I live on five park-like acres in the rural countryside of Ontario, Canada. Milkweed grows abundantly here, however we don’t have as many plants or monarchs as 20 years ago when we moved here from the big city (Toronto). Years ago, we called the place “Butterfly Acres” there were just so many monarchs, painted ladies and other beautiful butterflies fluttering about the wild flowers. It was bliss for nature-lovers like my husband and me. It’s sad to know these iconic butterflies have been disappearing for the last few years. At saveourmonarchs.org you can purchase milkweed seeds and learn about why the monarch is in trouble and why it is so important we save them.
