Safran the Calf Update

When we post about animals’ dire situations and hopefully their rescues and happy outcomes, we like to follow their stories. Animals like Sunder and Nosey the elephants, Breezy the dog and Safran the calf, posted here some months ago as “the face of dairy.” I was visiting “The Kind Life” a wonderful blog with Alicia Silverstone, and found these photos of Safran the calf at the Farm Sanctuary. He looks fabulous — we love his freckles — and so healthy and happy — we couldn’t be more pleased about his happy outcome.

Lessons Learned from Our Animal Friends

Loving and caring for animals has always been a major driving force in my life. Sharing my life with both domestic pets and raising and rehabilitating wild orphans back into the wild for so many years has made an indelible impact on who I am as a person. Touching my soul in countless ways, their company and the act of nurturing them has lent balance to a sometimes hectic life. Animals teach you who you really are.

This piece by Zoe Rei at Elephant Journal brought tears to my eyes — it speaks of loss, but its an inspiring message about the lessons we learn from our animal friends.
